Balmain East Ferry Wharf TFNSW Interchange Upgrade
Antoun were contracted to complete this project as part of the NSW Government’s $770 million Transport Access Program – an initiative to deliver modern, safe and accessible transport infrastructure. As an operational terminal, this upgrade was required to be completed with minimal impact to pedestrians and traffic flows, and required the management of multiple subcontractors within a relatively small project zone

The scope of works included
- Refurbishment and upgrade of an existing heritage sandstone seawall
- Construction of a piled retaining wall and new bus turning bay
- Architectural finishes adjacent to new garden areas
- Site remediation prior to the commencement of piling works
- Removal of contaminated materials
- Documentation of significant heritage discoveries
The results
Through utilising new technologies and innovative solutions, our project team was able to fast-track the overall project duration – meeting, and in some cases exceeding, expectations with minimal impact to the general public. A rigorous approach to planning and project management ensured the multiple subcontractors required operated in harmony, while maintaining pedestrian access and alleviating traffic congestion.
