Great Western Highway Landscape Improvements

We collaborated with Western Sydney Parks Trust (WSPT) to upgrade the centre median along the Great Western Highway between Eastern Creek and Brabham Drive. The project involved the installation of guard rails on either side of the median and the addition of numerous native plant species.

Location:

Eastern Creek, NSW

Budget:

$600k

Duration:

3 weeks

Sector:

Completed:

July 2019

The scope of works included

  • Initial works involved design-construct work for a new irrigation system utilising existing stormwater pits to reach the centre median
  • Construction included minor concrete works for the installation of a flush kerb and guardrail on either side of the median
  • Excavation work accommodated the planting of numerous native plant species as well as the new guard rail
  • Final works included relevant landscaping including the planting of remaining trees and grass

The Results

Completed works along the Great Western Highway adjacent to Sydney Zoo saw an upgrade to the centre median, including mass tree and grass planting, guard rail installation and kerb construction. The project was finished ahead of schedule, halving the program and minimising traffic and stakeholder disruption.
