Antoun was contracted to complete work related to the installation of traffic signals and remediation of the area at the intersection of Edwin Flack Avenue, Dawn Fraser Avenue and Uhrig Road. The need for restoration arose as a result of the intersection being classed as an accident blackspot by the Roads & Maritime Services.
Sydney Olympic Park, NSW
The scope of works included
- Initial works involved the demolition of a temporary road arrangement and removal of the redundant kerbs, medians, pavements and excess/waste material to a licensed landfill
- Adjustment to services, electrical works and traffic signals at the intersection of Edwin Flack Avenue, Dawn Fraser Avenue and Uhrig Road were essential to the project
- The installation of removable light poles allowed for demobilisation and remobilisation to accommodate supercar events held within the area
- Final works included the installation of new kerbs, medians, pavements, line marking and other miscellaneous works
The project produced a safe and functional intersection that filters a large number of cars every day. Despite navigating unknown electric and gas services, Antoun’s flexibility allowed the V8 supercar event to take place mid-development by demobilizing the light poles and reassembling the site afterwards to complete construction.
